What should I wear to join the program?

 

Wear comfortable clothing. Sometimes classes require you to bring  a Yoga mat or 2 beach towels.

May I answer any questions about the 5 Elements Health Events?

What does the 5 Elements Health Series Workshops include?

Relaxing to the exotic healing sounds of GuZheng (traditional chinese lute), 30 min energy stretching exercise through Qi-Gong or Yoga , 20 min Chinese medical lecture series, 30 min acupuncture and meditation led by Dr. Xiao and Caroline Adams, ending with 20 min socializing while enjoying healthy Asian cuisine. The content of each workshop is based on a specific element: wood, fire, water, metal, and earth.

How many 5 Elements Health Series Workshops should I do?

Join us for all 5 Workshops! The 5 Elements are an integration of all important elements from the view of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each session will treat a different organ system with specific focus on that Meridian.

Why do I need more than one session and how are they different?

Each organ system is in charge of very specific physiological functions and correspond to very specific aspects of the body. In addition, they are related to each other in very particular kinds of ways.

The 5 elements correspond to the organ systems and health issues in the following ways:

 

Wood Element- Liver and Gallbladder

Symptoms: Anger/Irritable/Temper, Blurry Vision/Spots, Breast Tenderness, Brittle/Course Nails/Hair, Bruising, Depression, Bloating, Headaches, Hemorrhoids, Indegestion, Irritable bowel, Nausea, PMS, Tinnitus (high), Tension/Cramps, Migraines, Eye/Vision problems, Stiff Neck/Shoulder, etc.

 

Fire Element- Heart and Small Intestine

What does music have to do with the health aspect of 5 Elements?

According to the five basic tones, one can detect different influences in the human body. For instance, Keng-based melodies are classified as noble, Earth-related, and affect the spleen. Often listening to such music makes one tolerant and kind.

 

Chueh-based music heralds the arrival of spring and awakens all life anew. This kind of music affects the liver. Listening to it makes one kindhearted and conciliatory.
